The Carrera collection was first inspired by the Carrera Panamerican car race that took place across Mexico. The races took place in the early to mid 1950s but eventually ground to a halt, or an emergency break if you will, due to the danger of the high speed, open road racing. It was still the inspiration that Jack Heuer needed, and in the 60's, the brand launched the initial Carrera range.

You probably already know some facts regarding the Rolex Submariner. But a word you may have not heard of until now is Tritium. Rolex fitted Tritium dials onto their watches for roughly thirty years, from the 60s until the start of the 90s, before discontinuing this type of dial. Due to its components, Tritium gives off a warmer glowing colour when it begins to wear and age, hence the batons on this watch appearing striking with their golden tone.

Model History:
In 1931, the bumper was launched by Omega. The innovation impacted the future of watches. Omega had developed a movement that featured two weights, allowing for their automatic watches to be wound in either direction, but working differently to how modern automatics work. A bumper movement is still wound by a weight within the watch movement, but unlike today's automatics, this weight doesn't showcase a free movement and only swings almost in a back and forth motion. The initial concept was supposedly inspired by a 'seesaw'.

Model History:
The Rolex Sea-Dweller occupies a cutting-edge solution to a unique problem discovered by COMEX divers back in the 1960’s – helium pressure build up inside the watch case during decompression. Helium can permeate a watch crystal, and can build up pressure during decompression – early deep sea divers experienced the crystal being blown right out of their watches as a result. Rolex solved this problem by integrating a helium escape valve into the Sea-Dweller case which will automatically release when pressure builds to a critical point. To accommodate the integrated valve, as well as the added reinforcement needed to enhance the Sea-Dweller depth rating, the case size of the Sea-Dweller is roughly 4mm thicker than that of the Submariner. The added thickness causes the Sea-Dweller to sit slightly higher on the wrist than other Rolex sports models.
